The Walking Dead is one of the highest rated cable television shows, and has been ever since it premiered on AMC on Halloween night in 2010. If you’re a fan of the show, it’s should not come as a surprise that it all started off in the form of a comic book. First issued in 2003 by publisher Image Comics, the comic is written by Robert Kirkman, who also serves as an executive producer for the show. While the show is based off of the the comic book, the stories don’t always play out the same way. Probably the most popular example of this is Daryl Dixon. Played by Norman Reedus is the show, Daryl has become arguably the most popular character. However, Daryl is not a character in the comic book. The same goes for his brother, Merle, who we saw portrayed by Michael Rooker in the first few seasons of the show. After almost every show, Google is filled with searches from people who are looking to see what the comic book characters look like compared to their counterpart in the show. While it’s highly recommended that you head down to your local comic book shop and buy the comic book for yourself, we’re going to save you the Google search and put up side-by-side comparisons of their appearances. We will update this as more characters are introduced into the show. Don’t worry – it’s spoiler free!
